MORE ON AUDIO BLOGS, PHONOGRAPHY AND ROADCASTING
have been very interested lately in audio blogging… and my very own concern is how sound represents lived social spaces (so to remap the understanding of production of space) and also how sound (it can be music but not necessary) becomes/influences/participates human everyday-life…
share with you more i discover…
roadcasting — i see it as a product generated in the driving culture in US. but for those who drive, in different parts of the world, even in hong kong and those interested in podcasting, you may be find it exciting.
roadcasting — a concept mixed podcast, or mobile audio playing or personalized radio show, plus mp3jing …
a quick time movie explaining the programme
podcast was originally generated as a tool working together with blogs in the beginning. see history on wiki.

Podcast隨想
利用坐捷運的時間倒出來的一些想法:
* 聲音的TiVo
* 因為有 rss/xml 和atom,所以可在網路上被精準的定位
* 模組化的段落,也就是說,以前走 stream 的方式很難被人家取用並且 reuse/remix,成為 remix culture
* stream對於業餘產生 content 的使用者是一種技術的門檻
* 印象的想像的問題,例如說,當blog一出來的時候,有許多人認為這只不過是進階版的個人新聞台,或是更進一步的家族而已,所以入口網站完全不需要去碰這一塊。可是你看最近國內創世紀(inxight?)的報告,就知道所有 blog hosting 的 providers 之排名都一直上升。
* 所以我們可以劃一個矩陣來比較
* 如果你做了就知道哪裡好玩
* 以玩多媒體的角度來看,podcast 簡直是陽春到家了
* 不過這就好比說,看 blog 要看 blogoshephres,而不是看單獨的blog。同裡,看 podcast 可以由幾個方向來了解
* 這幾個軸線分別是:blog、rss、portable media player、mobile phones、music industry
a lot of related information there more on his site. a really great site.
he uses iriver for recording… i did think of getting one but i gave up partly because of money and also i am not sure whether it works well on mac. actually, when i was doing my sound blog, i thought a lot on the choice of gears for recording. ipod is really bad as a recording device. so i use dv cam mainly and sometimes md, with external mics to make the best of recording quality.
recording device, as part of the body of phonographers, is also an interested issue. when one is walking around, or traveling to get sound, the easy user friendly tool and light weight of recording device is important.
i wish i have the health to test more on this technology. it is so much fun. i really like the idea of phonography as sound art.
